CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Praise Jam
The Christmas Praise Jam is one of the biggest Gospel family concerts of the year in Nigeria and it takes place every 25th December. For us here at the station it’s a time to show appreciation to clients, listeners and fans for making us the number one hit music station in Nigeria.

The event brings together families in a relaxed atmosphere whilst the fans of Cool FM get to hang out with their favorite on-air-personalities. We also showcase a unique blend of Nigeria’s award winning artists such as Sammy Okposo, Buchi, Eben, Daystar Mass Choir and new acts like Solomon Lange, Flo and many more. There is also appearances from top-notch comedians such as Akpororo, Nedu, Igos and many more that make Praise Jam a must-attend event. In addition to this we give one lucky fan the chance to win a brand new car.

Christmas Wish
The sister radio stations Cool FM, Wazobia FM and Nigeria Info FM give one family a chance to spend the day with their favorite presenter and other celebrities from the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Say I Do
For the first time ever history was made on 14th February 2014, as Nigerian radio station 96.9 Cool FM became the first radio station in Africa to ever organise and execute a real wedding on the radio. It was the perfect valentine for the lovers, Zainab and Tunde Adeitan, who got married and also became the first couple to be joined in marriage LIVE on radio in Africa!

The ceremony was conducted on the mid-day Oasis show hosted by Dotun and Temi. The wedding was also streamed live on Cool FM’s website, YouTube, Twitter and Google+ channels. All expenses for the special day were covered courtesy of Cool FM and its partners. This was a blessing to the couple, and enabled their families and friends to tune in and be part of their special day from all across the world.

It was also an opportunity to show the importance of showing love in the community, and to one another as the experience united our online and on-air fans across the world. We also had a fantastic party in the usual Cool FM style. We look forward to joining another couple as they say ‘I do’ in 2015 and we have no doubt that it will continue to grow into an even bigger initiative.

Notre Dame University International Student Film Festival

As part of our charitable objectives, Cool FM funds an initiative for rising filmmakers from Nigeria to experience a cultural exchange in the international film industry. Participants of this youth initiative travel to Notre Dame in the Middle East to experience the filmmaking industry there.

The event also hosts masterclasses in filmmaking, cinematography, scriptwriting, sound, acting, directing and training in the latest technologies in the field.

In addition to this they are given the opportunity to compete for the best fiction shorts, documentaries and animation amongst other awards during the festival. In addition to this they get an opportunity to shoot a short film with a top director which is showcased and voted for by thousands of students

CECP-Nigeria
The Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP-Nigeria) is an initiative of Private Sector (OPS) to create a vibrant social sector through private-public-social partnerships for the good of humanity. They currently have a major Initiative termed “Big War Against Cancer” and their goal is to sensitise the Nigerian population about cancer and its treatment.

As a radio station we actively support CECP by giving them a programme every week on all 3 sister stations to discuss with listeners all they need to know about preventative health care and how they too can raise much needed awareness and funds to take the work of CECP to the next level.

World Malaria Day
3ra’frique in partnership with comedian Ali Baba commemorates World Malaria Day with its ‘Join the Cast’ initiative. Cool FM as well as other media outlets set aside a date for on-air personalities to play top comedians in a game of football and funds raised go towards the fight against malaria. To date the games have attracted much on-air support and those who have been involved have often described this initiative as “heart-warming,” knowing that all the fun was created for a fantastic cause.
