For the second week running, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles topped the box office with total global takings reaching $185 million.

The Michael Bay produced Paramount and Nickelodeon collaboration is predicted to haul in $28.4 million in the US alone this weekend.

The surprise loser was The Expendables 3 which, according to the Hollywood Reporter, may have suffered because of a potentially disastrous internet leak.

Earlier this month Lionsgate were horrified to discover that a file containing a high quality digital copy of the star studded movie had been stolen and leaked online.

Within days there had been over a million downloads and the film company filed a lawsuit with a number of websites hosting the movie, according to the industry magazine.

Experts believe this could have significantly affected takings this weekend which were at an all time low for the franchise on an opening weekend at only $16.2 million.

The action flick, starring Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Antonio Banderas and  Jason Statham, came in $10 million less than expected.
