Legendary Singer Sharon Jones Is Dead. Milwaukee journal

Popular American singer Sharon Jones passed away at the age of 60 on Friday, November 18, 2016.

The singer who had undergone a surgery and went into remission nine months later, after she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2013, however, announced at the premiere of her documentary that the cancer had returned.

Jones who only achieved fame in her middle-age, after which she  had worked as a corrections officer at the Rikers Island prison in New York City and also as a bank guard in other to earn something for a living while she awaits her dream moment of making history in the music industry, was later said at 40Yrs old to have been a back-up singer at a recording session for soul singer Lee Fields in 1996.

She went on to release a number of singles, including 'Damn it's hot' and versions of funk classics 'I Got the Feelin' and 'Hook & Sling', before fronting the band Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, which she recorded seven albums, following which One of those titled , 'Give the people what they want' received a Grammy nomination in 2014 in the category Best R&B Album.

The artist after a though and wonderful time in life, was surrounded by her loved ones, including The Dap-Kings," her band said in a statement, when she passed away on Friday in Cooperstown, New York.
