For the first time in 40 years, ABBA is heading back to Britain's top 10 singles chart after thrilling fans with plans for a new album and virtual concert, reports the BBC.
The last song recorded by the group is called "The Suffering Bird" featuring lead vocals by Agnetha Fältskog. That was on August 20, 1982.
At this time, two singles released by the Swedish group sit at numbers six and seven, based on preliminary CD and vinyl sales and on streaming data, the Official Charts Company said on Sunday. Though the songs are not yet on the Oficial Charts top 100.
The songs rank better due to more physical sales so far, but Don't Shut Me Down is UK's most downloaded song for the past week. Both songs have been streamed over 500,000 times.
We'll get to see the full chart next week and the chart company said the tracks will mark ABBA's first appearance in the UK top 10 for singles since One Of Us in December 1981.
ABBA has notched up over 400 million album sales over 50 years despite parting ways in 1982. However, their songs are still relevant even after forty years. They have more than 20 million monthly streams on Spotify, which is one example of how powerful their music is today.
The band announced their comeback on Thursday. The album is due to be released on November 5.
ABBA is not the only comeback act we've seen in recent times. Elton John is also back for the first time in almost 20 years with Cold Heart (Pnau Remix), a collaboration with Dua Lipa.
