The war started quietly when Neil Young, an American singer-songwriter decided to leave the streaming service because it gives a platform to Joe Rogan, whom scientists have accused of promoting falsehoods about coronavirus vaccines.

As Spotify started to remove the singer and songwriter’s music from the streaming service, two other singers have decided to leave the streaming service in solidarity with Neil Young.

Young posted a brief note on his website, calling Spotify “the home of life-threatening Covid misinformation.” He also added that he believes these are lies being sold for money.

Later, the veteran singer also urged other artists and record companies to take off their music from the streaming platform and stop supporting its deadly misinformation about COVID.

Joni Mitchell, Nils Lofgren, and Brené Brown have followed the lead of Neil young.

There are rumors that various big names such as Foo Fighters and Barry Manilow, to Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also follow the lead of Young.

In the wake of all these, the streaming giant released a statement yesterday, addressing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and published the official Spotify rulebook to help their users understand how Spotify assesses all content on the platform.
