“Being A woman in a man’s World is a challenge..." - Yemi
Nigerian Afro-pop singer and songwriter, Yemi Alade, has identified criticism as one of the major setbacks to the careers of female artists in the country. The singer, who was speaking as a guest on COOL FM, Lagos, also believes female artists should be given just as much recognition as their male counterparts.
She stated that her experiences are part of what shapes her type of music adding that her ability to sing in other languages also gives her an opportunity to connect with people around the world.
She once posted the following on her Instagram page: “Being A woman in a man’s World is a challenge I will continue to overcome so the younger girls and ladies have A GREAT EXAMPLE to follow.”
Her fourth studio album ‘Woman of Steel’ is also a testament to the fact that the singer will continue to fight her way to overcome challenges; especially those that she's experiencing in her musical career.
It featured international acts Rick Ross and Angélique Kidjo.
