Billboard has confirmed that Wizkid's "Made In Lagos" will compete with some other albums in the 2022 Grammys, as the submission made by the singer has been accepted.
Billboard Magazine has confirmed that Wizkid's 'Made in Lagos' album has been submitted for a category in the upcoming 2022 Grammy Awards.
The album was nominated in the “Best Global Music Album” category at the 2022 Grammys, the same category Burna Boy won last year for his outstanding “twice as tall” album.
His platinum song, 'Essence' was also submitted in the “Best Global Music Performance” category.
Wizkid has sold more than a million copies of 'Essence' a track from the MIL album in the United States alone.
The song has reached number 10 on Billboard Hot 100.
It is the first Nigerian Song To Reach the Top 10 In Hot 100 Chart History. The Song hit a new peak of No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Monday, October 11, 2021.
The album was released in October 2020, has been on a chart-topping run, and has broken several records, a major one being the longest African album on the Billboard World Albums charts, as 'Made in Lagos' has spent a total of fifty weeks on the chart.
