CBN has been researching digital currencies since 2017
Central Bank of Nigeria is set to launch the pilot scheme of its digital currency on October 1st, 2021.
The scheme is tagged Project GIANT and it will use the Hyperledger Fabric Blockchain.
CBN's IT Director, Rakiya Mohammed, explains that the Bank had been researching digital currencies since 2017 and may conduct a proof of concept before the end of this year. He was speaking after a private webinar on Thursday.
