The Beninese legendary singer and songwriter Angelique Kidjo steals the night at the 64th Grammy Awards as she wins “The Global Music Album” category with her album “Mother Nature.”
She outshined the likes of Wizkid, Femi Kuti, Made Kuti, Rocky Dawuni, and Daniel Ho to achieve this feat.
She won her last Grammys in 2019 with Nigerian artist Burna Boy losing to her, the artist who's known for diverse and creative musical contribution bags yet another Grammy.
“Oh my God, okay I will be fast, this album was made possible because of young African talents that are going to take the world by storm and I'm going to take my time to thank them” She reveals during her acceptance speech at the 64th Grammy Awards.
Angelique Kidjo appreciated African talents and mostly Nigerian artists for their contribution to the “Mother Nature” album.
She brought out a piece of paper on which she wrote the names of artists that worked on the album with her.
She thanked Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Mr. Eazi, and other artists who worked on the project with her, she appreciated her band, producer, manager and fans for making this dream come true.
Kidjo is from the Benin Republic and she's not only a singer, but she's also an actress and activist, has recorded over 18 albums and performed at top and incredible places across Africa and the world.
The iconic female artist as also worked with different artists across the globe.
