YouTube wants to commemorate the foundation of the Organisation of Africa Unity
YouTube has announced that singers from five African nations will perform at the Africa Day Concert this year.
The event will be presented by celebrity Idris Elba, like in prior years. The yearly performance is a musical ode to Africa, showcasing the world’s most popular African musicians.
D’banj, Davido, Ckay, Yemi Alade, Reekado Banks, and Mayorkun are set to perform at the concert alongside artists from South Africa, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Congo.
YouTube wants to commemorate the foundation of the Organisation of Africa Unity on the 25th of May 1963 by using music as a platform to showcase African culture.
It also seeks to unite Africans, Africans in the Diaspora, and people from all over the world together to celebrate a continent that is home to over 1.5 billion people and producing new forms of cultural expression.

The concert will be streamed exclusively on YouTube at 19:00 CAT / 18:00 WAT on the 25th of May, 2022.
