Fireboy DML: March R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Month
Afrobeats singer, Fireboy DML has secured a new Billboard honorary award for his achievements for the month of March, according to MP3Bullet.
The news broke about two days ago by Billboard itself.
In an interview with Billboard, Fireboy stated;
“It’s surreal, honestly, watching myself grow into making a song with my inspiration. It was the moment I realized, ‘Yo, you’re actually doing something great, I consider him like the greatest Afrobeats artist, to me. He brought something that was missing in Afrobeats for a while. He brought soul. And for that, I will always give him that respect.”
This news comes a few days after the singer’s tune, Peru was certified gold in the UK.
The most successful version that features British Grammy-winning singer Ed Sheeran, has been hitting milestones and topping charts, after having acrued more than a 100 million views on Spotify.
The song is still on Apple Music Top 100 Charts Nigeria, at #57.
The latest UK record indicates that the song has sold over 400,000 units.
According to the interview he shared on Billboard, it was his collaboration with Wande Coal that helped him to see that he was destined for stardom.
