Now Most streamed African Artist on Spotify... surpasses Wizkid
Nigerian music superstar, Tems, has surpassed Wizkid to become Spotify's most-streamed African artist.
The soul-stirring singer has gone past a whopping eleven million monthly listeners on the music streaming platform Spotify, making her the first female artist and overall act in Africa to rack up such numbers.
The singer has shown much clout as she was instrumental in the success of Wizkid's smashing tune 'Essence', with her catchy hook on the song.
It was also noted that her rise on Spotify is primarily because of her partnership with Drake because as of September 1st, 2021 she had a total of 7,016,476 monthly listeners on Spotify.
She recently featured on Drake's album 'Certified Lover Boy' that's still the rave of the moment.
Now, Tems has surpassed Afrobeats poster boy Wizkid, who has over ten million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Interestingly, Nigerian acts Burna Boy has over nine million on the platform, Davido has over three million, Yemi Alade has over one million, as well as Tiwa Savage.
