Rema Claims His Genre is Afrorave

People say his music is like that of the Indians and even Arabs...

Divine Ikubor, known professionally as Rema, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper who has decided to carve a niche for himself.

Rema has officially given a peculiar name to his genre of music.

The Jonzing World (Marvin Records Label) signee recently made this announcement on social media in a chat on Capital Xtra.

Recall that social media users have at different points mockingly referred to his kind of music as Indian music.

In the course of discussing with the host, the “Bounce” crooner revealed that people say his music is like that of the Indians and even Arabs in a bid to get to him however, it doesn’t.

He calls their assumptions about the kind of music he makes 'bad comment' that could have given him sleepless nights. But he is rising high from the challenge by turning the controversy to an advantage for himself.

Thus, his decision to globalize and take Afrobeats to the next level by naming his music “Afrorave” adding that his album “Bounce” seals his claim.

Rema added that Afrorave is a sub-genre of Afrobeat, and that can't be denied by anyone as the first part of the word suggests it really has something to do with Afrobeats.

The super-talented songster also noted that he hopes the next generation can take Afrorave to the next level just like he has done.

He made the following remark on Instagram: “From this day my sound will be called “Afrorave” a sub-genre of Afrobeats, my Album seals this claim for good.”
