Spotify Celebrates Africa Day

In the celebration of Africa Day that happened on the 25th of May, the Global streaming platform Spotify took a bigger

step to appreciate and celebrate artists, creatives, and podcasters that tell the story of Africa in a diverse way across the continent.

A social media campaign “Dubbed Sounds Of Africa”  focused on six artists and six podcasters, started a week before Africa Day, which was all curated and reviewed at a party night out in Johannesburg South Africa, the party which was attended by some music stakeholders, artists, creators and one of Spotify top executive.

Some of the African biggest artists and influencers attended the party, including Nigeria’s Ladipoe and Preyé and others from Kenya and South Africa.

The managing director of Spotify Africa Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy shares Spotify's journey in Africa and also the plans of the streaming platform.

“This is the first of many initiatives to come. We would like to highlight even more African creators on an even bigger scale, to ensure that the whole world knows that Africa is not just a moment, it is here to stay,” She explained.

However, Spotify revealed $100.000 for Africa Podcast Grant that will be given to 10 creators that are sharing African stories.
